It takes a special kind of extrovert to be successful in sales. Unfortunately, most people do equate a talent for sales with an ability to succeed as an entrepreneur. In the past, your success as an entrepreneur may have depended on your ability to make a compelling sales pitch, but consumers have grown weary of the hard sell. If you don’t have the personality that it takes to sell any product, don’t worry.

Make New Friends Instead of Making Sales

In today’s world, the internet provides greater transparency, while it also provides a way for consumers to connect with commercial brands. This type of access has changed the way consumers connect with their favorite brands. As a result, the idea of making a sale at any cost won’t lead to promising results anymore. Consumers want to make deeper connections with businesses, and they want to know that they matter to those brands.

Your lack of a sales technique may work in your favor for this reason. If you take the time to approach consumers in an honest manner and make an effort to connect with them, you’ll likely have greater success in selling your products. As you communicate in a thoughtful manner, you can use conversations to find out what problems your followers are experiencing. When you come across a common problem, you’ll have a way to recommend your products naturally. Instead of presenting yourself as someone interested in only making a profit, your more subtle sales pitch will be seen as an attempt to help consumers solve problems.

In many cases, you may not need to make that sales pitch at all. Through normal conversation, your followers may come to recognize you as an authority in your field of interest. As a result, they will seek out your website and take a greater interest in your products. Having experienced your knowledgeable insights on social media, they will be more willing to try your products or services.

Ultimately, anyone can succeed as an entrepreneur as long as they’re dedicated and willing to put in the hard work. Even if you couldn’t sell to your own family, you have many more talents and traits that you can hone as an entrepreneur. As long as you’re willing to put your abilities to use in overcoming challenges, you can succeed.
